Public Sculpture Committee

The purpose of the Public Sculpture Committee, which is a standing committee under the Parks, Art and Recreation Commission (PARC), will be to advise the PARC on the City's Public Sculpture Loan Program, who will then make recommendations to the City Council. Specifically, it is expected that the Committee will take an active role in bringing about public awareness of the visual arts through display of outdoor sculptures, conduct sculpture searches, evaluate and acquire sculptures, promote artist's works through media exposure, identify sculpture locations, work with City staff on placement and maintenance of sculptures and assist the City with insuring that all conditions and agreements are being met. The main emphasis of the PARC and Committee should be on sculptures loaned to the City and not "purchased" or donated art.
